Harmony Tan: The Wimbledon 2022 tennis star who beat Serena Williams

After defeating Serena Williams in the opening round of Wimbledon 2022, Harmony Tan has recently established herself as a prominent figure in the tennis world. 

In fact, over the course of her ten-year tennis career, Harmony Tan has played in the Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon, and US Open. Tan has also won one career doubles championship and eight singles titles on the ITF Women’s World Tennis Tour.

Harmony Tan was born in Paris, France, in September 1997, to parents who were from Vietnam and Cambodia. Along with her brother, she started playing tennis when she was four years old.

Her father is an engineer, while her mother works as a financial journalist. Harmony became a professional player in 2011 at the age of 14.
