Minister Hem Vanndy welcomed a delegation from Panasonic Cambodia on March 21, 2025, to discuss the company’s contributions and future plans in Cambodia.
Mr. Hisakazu Maeda, Country Head of Panasonic Cambodia, outlined the company’s operations and initiatives in Cambodia since 2010, highlighting its mission to serve the Cambodian market. He emphasized Panasonic’s strong focus on corporate social responsibility, particularly in promoting STEM education across the country.
Maeda also discussed the company’s plans to promote fair trade and noted Panasonic’s ongoing application for product registration with the Institute of Standards of Cambodia (ISC). He expressed a desire to establish a Panasonic factory in Cambodia, pointing to the company’s existing manufacturing presence in the region, with 15 factories in Thailand and four in Vietnam.
Minister Vanndy praised Panasonic’s 60% market share for wall-mounted products and encouraged the company to explore Cambodia’s special economic zones (SEZs) as potential sites for a future factory. He highlighted the growing demand for electrical appliances as Cambodia moves toward graduating from least-developed country status by 2029.
The Minister also urged Panasonic to engage in joint research and innovation and to strengthen links with local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) within its supply chain. He reaffirmed the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation’s (MISTI) commitment to supporting further Japanese investments in Cambodia.
