Phnom Penh, Cambodia — The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSRelief) of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has donated approximately USD 80,000 worth of materials and equipment to the Cambodia University of Management and Technology (CUMT), through a grant agreement with the Cambodian Muslim Intellectual Alliance. The initiative aims to enhance the university’s capacity in training higher education students and promoting academic excellence in Cambodia.
H.E. Dr. Hosen Mohamad Farid, Chairman of the Cambodian Muslim Intellectual Alliance and President of CUMT, expressed his appreciation to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its continued support. He noted that the contribution will strengthen CUMT’s ability to deliver high-quality education and build skilled human resources aligned with the nation’s socio-economic development goals.
Dr. Hosen highlighted that the grant reflects Saudi Arabia’s ongoing commitment to advancing education and fostering closer bilateral relations between the two nations.
This contribution forms part of Saudi Arabia’s broader humanitarian and relief efforts through KSRelief, which focuses on supporting the higher education sector in developing countries. The program seeks to enhance institutional capacity, provide financial support for academic programs, and improve access to education.
CUMT, established by Cambodian Muslim intellectuals with the backing of the Al-Rajhi Endowment Fund and KSRelief, stands as the first higher education institution founded by the Cambodian Muslim community. Officially inaugurated on October 21, 2024, under the presidency of H.E. Dr. Hang Chuon Naron, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Youth and Sports—representing Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet—the university has been dedicated to nurturing competent professionals to serve Cambodia’s growing economy.
KSRelief, one of Saudi Arabia’s leading humanitarian organizations, continues to play a pivotal role in international development through initiatives in education, health, emergency relief, and social welfare. In Cambodia, the center has supported CUMT and other humanitarian projects and is exploring new programs to assist orphans, low-income families, and the broader social sector.
