Cambodia Participates in the 26th ASEAN-India Senior Officials’ Meeting

In a significant move towards strengthening regional ties, Cambodia’s representative took a prominent role at the 26th ASEAN-India Senior Officials’ Meeting held in New Delhi, India, on May 3, 2024. His Excellency KUNG Phoak, holding the position of Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and also serving as the ASEAN Senior Official’s Meeting Leader for Cambodia, was in attendance to contribute to critical discussions pertaining to the future of ASEAN-India relations.

This gathering was a pivotal platform for reviewing the ongoing collaboration between ASEAN countries and India, aiming to steer the ASEAN-India Comprehensive Strategic Partnership towards more constructive and wide-ranging cooperation. Participants delved into strategies to stimulate cooperation across various sectors, aligning with the ASEAN community’s three foundational pillars. Key to the meeting was the thorough analysis of the ASEAN-India Plan of Action, designed to propel the ASEAN-India Partnership for Peace, Progress, and Shared Prosperity for the period 2021-2025.

Discourse extended beyond bilateral and regional cooperation, encompassing discussions on broader regional and international matters. Such dialogues are crucial for identifying and tackling common challenges, fostering peace, and ensuring continued progress and prosperity for all parties involved.

The participation of His Excellency KUNG Phoak illustrated Cambodia’s commitment to playing a central role in ASEAN’s diplomatic engagements, particularly in fostering a robust and dynamic relationship with India. This meeting underscored the shared objectives of ASEAN nations and India to deepen connections not only in economic and cultural spheres but also in addressing global and regional geopolitical challenges.
