On January 3, 2025, H.E. Prof. Bundit Sapheacha Dr. SOK Siphana, Senior Minister in charge of Special Missions (Multilateral Trade and Economic Affairs) and Chairman of the Trade Policy Advisory Board (TPAB), led a pivotal meeting at the Preah Vihear Provincial Hall, focusing on the progress and opportunities for the cashew nut industry in Cambodia.
The meeting was attended by H.E. KONG Chandararot, Advisor to Samdech Thipadei Prime Minister, the Deputy Governors of Preah Vihear, Kratie, and Stung Treng, along with heads of provincial departments and private sector representatives involved in cashew nut production and trade.
H.E. Dr. SOK Siphana emphasized Cambodia’s potential as a cashew producer, calling for stronger public-private partnerships to improve production quality, market access, and value-added processing. Discussions included enhancing infrastructure, technical support for farmers, and sustainable agricultural practices. Export strategies were also reviewed to strengthen Cambodia’s presence in international markets.
H.E. KONG Chandararot and local governors reaffirmed their support for industry growth, while private sector representatives expressed optimism in the government’s proactive stance. This strategic meeting reflects Cambodia’s commitment to fostering economic growth, empowering local farmers, and boosting agricultural exports.
