Phnom Penh, Cambodia — Cambodia welcomed 730 international tourists to its coastal city of Sihanoukville when the luxury cruise ship Seven Seas Explorer docked at the Sihanoukville Autonomous Port on Feb. 19, 2026, marking a notable moment for the Kingdom’s emerging cruise tourism sector.
The vessel, arriving from Thailand in the morning, carried passengers representing 24 nationalities, with a large number of visitors spending the day exploring attractions in Sihanoukville and nearby areas, according to port and immigration officials.
During their visit, many tourists took part in sightseeing, local tours and excursions that showcased coastal landscapes, markets and cultural sites in Preah Sihanouk Province. A group of visitors was reported to have continued their trip to Siem Reap, home to the world-renowned Angkor Wat temple complex.
The arrival of the Seven Seas Explorer reflects growing activity in Cambodia’s cruise tourism segment, which has seen increased port calls at Sihanoukville in recent months. Cruise liners are gradually incorporating Cambodian destinations into Southeast Asian itineraries, offering passengers opportunities to experience the country’s coastal and cultural offerings.
Local authorities have noted that enhancing cruise tourism is part of broader efforts to diversify Cambodia’s tourism industry and support regional economies. Investments in port facilities, tourism services and destination promotion have made Sihanoukville a more accessible and attractive stop for international cruise operators.
Cruise arrivals also contribute to the local hospitality and service sectors by generating demand for restaurants, guided tours, transport services and retail. The increasing frequency of cruise ship visits is seen as an important component of Cambodia’s strategy to strengthen tourism flows and elevate its global tourism profile.
The Seven Seas Explorer is scheduled to depart Sihanoukville later in the evening, continuing its regional voyage. The continued growth of cruise visits signals Cambodia’s expanding role as a destination of interest for international travellers arriving by sea.
