PREAH VIHEAR — Leading Cambodian rice exporter Amru Rice Cambodia has officially committed to doubling its procurement of organic paddy from Preah Vihear province to 40,000 tonnes this year, in a deal valued at approximately $12 million.
The commitment was announced during a contract-signing ceremony held in Preah Vihear province for the production and supply of organic rice and cassava. As part of the broader agricultural agreements signed at the event, the Cambodian Agriculture Cooperative Corporation (CACC) also pledged to purchase 15,000 tonnes of organic cassava from local agricultural communities.
Strengthening Sustainable Farming Partnerships
Speaking at the ceremony, Amru Rice Cambodia CEO Song Saran emphasized that the agreement extends beyond a conventional trade arrangement, representing a long-term partnership built on trust, mutual growth, and shared responsibility.
“The success of farmers is also the success of the company,” said Song Saran. He reaffirmed Amru Rice’s commitment to securing reliable markets for local smallholders, providing transparent pricing, improving product traceability, and promoting climate-resilient organic rice cultivation techniques.
Direct Economic Boost for Preah Vihear Agriculture
Preah Vihear Provincial Governor Kim Rithy welcomed the investment, noting that large-scale organic rice production reinforces Cambodia’s competitive edge in international agricultural markets.
Agriculture contributes approximately 50% to Preah Vihear’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of around $400 million. In 2025, the province produced over 20,000 tonnes of organic rice worth approximately $6 million.
