PHNOM PENH, CAMBODIA — The Cambodia Food Expo 2026 concluded its three-day run from July 17 to 19 at the Diamond Island Convention and Exhibition Centre in Phnom Penh. Operating under the theme “Khmer Food Must Be Strong,” the event brought together local food producers, entrepreneurs, investors, and tourism officials to support the national food industry.
The exhibition aimed to improve food quality standards, promote local culinary heritage, and strengthen the Kingdom’s gastronomy tourism sector.
Expanding Local Product Visibility and Industry Standards
Organized with participation from public and private sectors, the expo featured over 220 exhibition booths showcasing processed agricultural items, traditional food, and beverages created by Cambodian small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
The opening ceremony included key representatives, such as Ieng Chantha, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Interior, and Tan Kim Meng, Co-Chair of the Government-Private Sector Forum on Health. Additionally, Minister of Tourism Huot Hak visited the venue to meet with local vendors and review showcased products.
Speaking at the event, Om Sengbora, Chairman of the campaign committee, explained that the expo serves as a business-to-business (B2B) networking platform. It allows regional suppliers, packaging experts, and investors to explore new commercial partnerships while upgrading quality standards.
Linking Gastronomy with Regional Tourism Growth
Beyond business matching, event organizers highlighted the role of local cuisine in driving domestic and international tourism. Connecting authentic Cambodian recipes with cultural destinations allows local producers to gain wider market access.
Organizers encouraged residents and foreign visitors to support local suppliers, emphasizing that strengthening local food production builds economic resilience. The trade show forms part of broader national initiatives designed to increase value-added processing for agricultural goods across Cambodia.
