PHNOM PENH — The Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) has engaged in high-level discussions with an international business delegation from Japan, Singapore, and Hong Kong to drive foreign direct investment (FDI) into the Kingdom’s agro-industry, food processing, infrastructure, and logistics sectors.
The meeting was led by H.E. Sun Chanthol, Deputy Prime Minister and First Vice Chairman of the CDC. Discussions were facilitated by Chan Sokheang, Chairman and CEO of Bayon Heritage Holding Group and Co-Founder/CEO of Signature Rice Co., Ltd. (Signature of Asia).
Strategic Focus on Agro-Industry and Supply Chains
The initiative aims to provide international investors with direct insights into Cambodia’s investment environment, incentive frameworks, and government facilitation measures.
Key areas targeted for development and export expansion include:
- Rice & Cashew Processing: Upgrading local processing capabilities to increase value-added exports bound for global markets.
- Agricultural Value Chains: Strengthening processing standards across diversified crop sub-sectors.
- Infrastructure & Logistics: Expanding transport networks, storage facilities, and supply chain logistics to lower trade overheads.
Participating International Delegations
The international delegation comprised prominent regional commercial entities:
- Agro Ludens Inc. (Japan): Specializing in agribusiness technology and agri-tech innovations.
- Olam Food Ingredients / OFI (Singapore): A global provider of food ingredients with major operations in cashew and cocoa processing.
- Meridian International Holding (Hong Kong): An investment holding firm active in real estate, infrastructure, and regional diversified investments with existing operations in Cambodia.
H.E. Sun Chanthol reiterated the Royal Government’s commitment to facilitating investor entry and simplifying administrative processes to support sustainable economic growth.
