Cambodia and India to deepen engagement in the Tourism Sector

At Prasat Kravan temple, the Ministry of Tourism of Cambodia and the Embassy of India hosted a gala dinner in honor of Dr. S. Jaishankar, Minister of External Affairs, Government of India.

In his speech, Dr. Jai Shankar highlighted historical collaboration between India and Cambodia as well as India’s commitment to restoring the Angkor Wat temples and boosting travel between the two countries.

He also mentioned how the present government, led by Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi, puts a high priority on tourism and the government is dedicated to strengthening ties between India and Cambodia on a bilateral basis.

The minister was welcomed by H.E. Pak Sokhom, Secretary of State, Ministry of Tourism. Speaking to the delegation, he stated that Cambodia and India must cooperate to boost the tourism industry and also attract Indian investors to Cambodia.

H.E. Devyani Khobragade, the Indian ambassador to Cambodia, as well as other government representatives and travel industry representatives attended the event.

Jacques Guichandut, Managing Director of All Dreams Cambodia, one of the main sponsors of the event, said to The Better Cambodia that there are cultural and historical similarities between India and Cambodia. Promoting Cambodia to Indian tourists can boost the country’s tourism industry, leading to increased employment and economic growth.

Dara Huot Chief Executive Officer of Phare Circus was the MC for the event. The menu had different delicious Cambodian dishes. Ministry of Tourism, Cambodia, presented world-famous Apsara Dance, Peacock Dance, Indian Embassy presented Drum performance by women artists and Phare Ponleu Selpak presented Pahre Circus to the delegation.
