Cambodia and the United States have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening their alliance with a productive exchange of views and discussion during a recent meeting. His Excellency Deputy Prime Minister Sok Chenda Sophea, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Kingdom of Cambodia, and His Excellency Patrick Murphy, Ambassador of the United States to Cambodia, held a courtesy call where they discussed the prospects of promoting bilateral ties.
The two officials expressed their sincere appreciation for the assistance provided by the U.S. government in support of social and economic development in Cambodia. They also acknowledged the active role of Cambodia during its ASEAN Chairmanship in elevating the ASEAN-US Dialogue Partner to “Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.”
Furthermore, the upcoming UN General Assembly in New York presents a great opportunity for Cambodian Prime Minister HUN MANET to have a business meeting with some American companies organised by the USASEAN Business Council to explore business opportunities in the Kingdom.
The meeting between Deputy Prime Minister Sok Chenda Sophea and Ambassador Patrick Murphy also highlighted the importance of cooperation on multilateral platforms, particularly in the ASEAN and United Nations frameworks. They exchanged views on regional and international issues of common interest and expressed satisfaction with the good collaboration under the US-Mekong partnership.
The positive dialogue between Cambodia and the United States underscores their mutual desire to cultivate stronger bonds of friendship and cooperation.
