CMA CGM GROUP, the world’s largest shipping and logistics company, has unveiled plans to significantly expand its investment in Cambodia, signaling a promising collaboration between the global giant and the Southeast Asian nation.

Rodolphe SAADE, the Chairman and CEO of CMA CGM Group, made this announcement during his meeting with Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol, who also serves as the First Vice President of the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) and the High Representative of Prime Minister Samdech Hun Manet. The meeting took place in Paris, France, on January 18.

Mr. SAADE provided an overview of CMA CGM Group’s extensive global operations, highlighting the company’s presence in 160 countries with 400 offices. This French container shipping company plays a crucial role in international trade and logistics.

Deputy Prime Minister Chanthol warmly welcomed CMA CGM Group’s expansion plans in Cambodia. He assured Mr. SAADE of the Royal Government’s unwavering commitment to creating a favorable business environment and offering seamless coordination to ensure that all investors, including global industry leaders like CMA CGM Group, feel both welcomed and confident in their ventures within Cambodia.

This promising collaboration between CMA CGM Group and Cambodia holds great potential for enhancing the country’s logistics infrastructure and facilitating trade on a global scale. It aligns with Cambodia’s efforts to position itself as a regional economic hub.

In addition to discussions with CMA CGM Group, Deputy Prime Minister Chanthol also met with Ms. Sophie Viger, Managing Director of Ecole 42, an innovative technology education institution. Ecole 42 is actively collaborating with local partners in Cambodia to expand its training programs, further promoting technological education within the country.

Ecole 42’s unique educational model offers free training to students, equipping them with the skills and knowledge necessary for careers in technology and software development. Their pedagogy emphasizes peer-to-peer learning and project-based education.

Deputy Prime Minister Chanthol expressed his appreciation for Ecole 42’s presence in Cambodia, encouraging the institution to continue enhancing its education and training processes. He emphasized the importance of aligning human resource development with the evolving demands of the Cambodian job market, which increasingly relies on technological skills.

These developments underscore Cambodia’s commitment to fostering economic growth, improving its logistics capabilities, and advancing technology education to meet the challenges of the modern world. The collaboration with CMA CGM Group and Ecole 42 promises to play a pivotal role in achieving these goals, ultimately contributing to Cambodia’s development and prosperity.

As this partnership unfolds, Cambodia looks forward to harnessing the expertise of CMA CGM Group and the innovative education provided by Ecole 42, shaping a brighter future for its people and the global logistics industry.
