From February 27 to 29, 2024, Dr. CHEM Widhya, the distinguished Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for Cambodia, and the country’s representative for the High-Level Task Force on the ASEAN Community’s Post-2025 Vision (HLTF-ACV), took part in the 13th HLTF-ACV meeting held in Vientiane, Lao PDR.
During this significant meeting, high-ranking officials engaged in thorough discussions about the draft of the ASEAN Political-Security Community (APSC) Strategic Plan, which is aimed at shaping the ASEAN Community Vision for the year 2045. This plan is set to be finalized by the conclusion of this year and is slated for submission to the leaders of ASEAN countries for official approval in 2025. Representing Cambodia at this crucial gathering was His Excellency UNG Rachana, who serves as the Under-Secretary of State of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
The engagement of Cambodia in these discussions underlines the nation’s commitment to contributing constructively to the collective efforts of the ASEAN nations as they look forward to shaping a cohesive and forward-looking strategy that will guide the region towards greater cooperation, stability, and prosperity in the coming decades. The active involvement of Cambodian representatives in such high-level dialogues is crucial for ensuring that the nation’s interests and perspectives are adequately represented and integrated into the broader regional framework, thereby ensuring a harmonious and balanced approach to future development and cooperation among ASEAN member states.
