PHNOM PENH — Cambodia and Israel are set to establish a brand-new joint trade mechanism. This new framework will fast-track business activities and commercial delegations between the two nations.
The initiative follows high-level diplomatic meetings held on Tuesday at the Peace Palace. Additional talks also took place at the Ministry of Commerce.
Prime Minister Hun Manet Welcomes Israeli Ambassador to Discuss Strategic Sectors
Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet held a bilateral meeting with the newly appointed Israeli Ambassador, Alona Fisher-Kamm. Their discussion focused on deepening economic and social relations.
During the talks, Ambassador Fisher-Kamm highlighted the strong upward trend in bilateral cooperation. Furthermore, she pointed to a unique catalyst for future growth. Both nations possess highly youthful demographics. Consequently, this demographic trend could drive major collaborative opportunities in modern industries.
Prime Minister Hun Manet expressed strong satisfaction with the current progress of Cambodia-Israel ties. Therefore, he pledged the Royal Government’s ongoing support for established programs. These programs include Israel’s agricultural internship initiatives for Cambodian students. Meanwhile, he also encouraged deeper bilateral integration within emerging fields.
Ministry of Commerce to Anchor New Joint Trade Framework
To turn diplomatic goodwill into tangible economic outcomes, Commerce Minister Cham Nimul met separately with Ambassador Fisher-Kamm.

The leaders announced that they are actively spearheading a dedicated joint trade mechanism. Moving forward, this framework will serve as the primary institutional platform. It will facilitate commercial exchange and organize trade delegations. In addition, it will help diversify the products traded between the two countries.
High-Potential Sectors Tapped for Bilateral Development
The leadership from both countries mapped out specific target industries. As a result, Israel’s advanced innovation landscape can seamlessly align with Cambodia’s expanding economy:
- Agriculture & Water Management: Partners will continue student internships. Additionally, they will implement advanced Israeli water tech.
- Innovation & Technology: Both sides want to drive tech transfers. Therefore, they will focus on smart digital solutions.
- Trade & Investment: The nations will leverage major trade platforms. For example, they will use the upcoming Cambodia Trade Expo to showcase market opportunities.
- Social Development: Finally, they will expand joint collaborative frameworks. These will target education, culture, science, and healthcare.
By combining Israel’s distinct tech expertise with Cambodia’s expanding economic footprint, the joint initiative intends to pave a sustainable path. Consequently, it will secure private investments and multi-sector commercial engagement over the coming years.
