The Ministry of Commerce, in collaboration with relevant ministries and institutions, is in the process of developing a new special procedure aimed at facilitating and regulating the export of Cambodian goods to the United States. This initiative focuses on reinforcing the monitoring mechanisms for local content and value addition to ensure full compliance with both Cambodia’s Law on Rules of Origin and the U.S. rules of origin.
According to a statement released by the ministry this evening, the new procedure will enhance transparency, protect the interests of Cambodian producers and exporters, and promote sustainable access to the U.S. market. The official announcement and details of the procedure are expected to be released soon.
The Ministry of Commerce reaffirmed Cambodia’s firm commitment to upholding international trade obligations, including those agreed upon when joining the World Trade Organization. Notably, Cambodia enacted the Law on Rules of Origin on July 5, 2023, to facilitate legitimate trade under preferential regimes, support the application of non-preferential trade rules, and prevent origin fraud.
In light of this development, the Ministry urges all exporters and producers targeting the U.S. market to closely follow the forthcoming guidelines and implement them with diligence and full compliance.
