Cambodia has embarked on an ambitious project to elevate its coastal appeal with the launch of the upscale public beach resort, Prek Treng Beach Resort. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Land Management, Urban Planning, and Construction, Say Samal, along with his spouse, led the groundbreaking ceremony yesterday in Village 3, Sangkat 1, Sihanoukville. The event was attended by provincial leaders, municipal officials, ministry representatives, and key stakeholders.
As Chairman of the National Committee for Coastal Area Development, Samal hailed the project as a transformative step toward combining Cambodia’s natural coastal beauty with world-class infrastructure.
Prek Treng Beach Resort is set to redefine Cambodia’s coastal tourism landscape with a range of modern, sustainable features:
- Preservation of natural beauty – The pristine white sand beach will be maintained for the enjoyment of both locals and tourists.
- Safe swimming zones – Floating sea barriers will ensure secure swimming areas.

Once completed, Prek Treng Beach Resort is expected to become a premier tourist destination, attracting both domestic and international visitors. The project is also anticipated to boost investment opportunities in Preah Sihanouk province, setting a new benchmark for sustainable and inclusive tourism in the region.
