(Phnom Penh): The Better Cambodia wishes to clarify recent reporting related to YKK Canada and its engagement with Cambodian officials.
On November 4, 2025, we published an article titled “YKK Canada Explores Investment Opportunities in Cambodia’s Growing Garment Accessories Industry.” Following communication from YKK Holding Asia Pte Ltd, we acknowledge that the headline and portions of the article were factually incorrect and may have misrepresented the purpose of the meeting.
According to an official statement from the team, who oversees Corporate Communications for the YKK ASAO region (ASEAN, South Asia, Oceania), YKK Canada has not been considering any investment in Cambodia. The meeting referenced in the previous article was part of a delegation visit coordinated by the Ville-St-Laurent Chamber of Commerce, during which representatives from the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC) visited YKK Canada in Canada.
YKK Canada’s President did not provide any comments, signals, or indications regarding potential investment in Cambodia during this meeting.
The engagement was purely a courtesy visit within a broader business delegation itinerary, and any interpretation beyond that was unintentional.
We understand that the earlier article created confusion among YKK’s stakeholders, including local partners, customers, and business associates. We sincerely regret this and appreciate YKK’s professional clarification.
The Better Cambodia remains committed to accurate, responsible reporting and will continue to ensure that information published on our platform reflects verified facts. We have removed misleading elements and updated the article accordingly.
We thank YKK Holding Asia Pte Ltd for bringing this matter to our attention and for their cooperation in correcting the record.
