Cambodia’s international trade performance witnessed a strong upswing in 2025, with total trade value reaching $65.25 billion, reflecting an 18% year-on-year increase. The robust growth highlights the country’s expanding economic footprint and its continued integration into regional and global supply chains, despite ongoing geopolitical and economic uncertainties.
According to official data, Cambodia’s exports rose steadily, supported by strong demand for garments, footwear, travel goods, electrical equipment, and agricultural products. The garment, footwear, and travel goods sector remained the backbone of exports, accounting for nearly half of the country’s total outbound trade and reinforcing Cambodia’s reputation as a reliable manufacturing hub. This momentum aligns with Cambodia’s broader vision of becoming a competitive production base, as discussed in Cambodia’s rise as a manufacturing and investment hub.
Imports also increased significantly in 2025, driven by higher inflows of raw materials, machinery, fuel, and construction inputs to support domestic manufacturing and infrastructure development. This balanced growth in exports and imports helped maintain trade stability while supporting industrial expansion.
Key trading partners such as China, the United States, Vietnam, and Thailand continued to play a crucial role in Cambodia’s trade ecosystem. Regional trade agreements, including the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), further enhanced market access and reduced tariff barriers. As highlighted in coverage of Cambodia’s trade resilience and regional growth opportunities, such agreements have helped the country adapt to shifting global trade patterns.
Government officials attributed the strong trade performance to improved trade facilitation, streamlined customs procedures, and policies encouraging export diversification. Combined with continued investment in logistics and manufacturing capacity, Cambodia’s 2025 trade growth underscores its growing resilience and long-term potential as a key player in regional commerce.
