PHNOM PENH — Cambodia’s official digital document verification platform, verify.gov.kh, has won the prestigious 2026 United Nations Public Service Award. The global accolade recognizes the platform’s outstanding contribution to transparency and accountability in public service delivery.
The Ministry of Post and Telecommunications (MPTC) announced that the platform secured the award after advancing through multiple rigorous evaluation rounds. The Cambodian initiative competed in a dense global field featuring more than 700 entries from 62 countries.
The award ceremony took place during the United Nations Public Service Forum in Tbilisi, Georgia. This global forum operated under the focal theme of “Transforming Public Institutions: Advancing Innovation, Accountability, Participation and Inclusion”.

Driving Digital Transformation and Combatting Fraud
The Royal Government of Cambodia originally launched verify.gov.kh in 2023 under the leadership of former Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen. The state established the portal as the official framework for verifying government documents. Specifically, the platform targets document fraud, optimizes authentication workflows, and significantly reduces operational costs and processing times. Collectively, these improvements have accelerated the digital transformation of public services across the Kingdom.
Under the current leadership of Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Cambodia continues to expand its digital government agenda. The MPTC remains at the forefront of this push, actively enhancing public applications and state-level digital software.
Advanced Technology Integration and Global Recognition
The verify.gov.kh platform has undergone continuous upgrades to maintain alignment with international best practices. Technological enhancements deployed by the ministry include:
- Artificial Intelligence: Deployed to automate data patterns and cross-checks.
- Biometric Technologies: Integrated to elevate user identity safety parameters.
- System Flexibility: Engineered to allow seamless cross-department scaling.
- Cybersecurity Resilience: Hardened to safeguard vital public records from threats.
Because of these technical milestones, global experts recognize the platform as the world’s fourth digital public infrastructure model. Consequently, Cambodia has begun actively sharing its infrastructure development experience with several other countries.
A Growing Portfolio of International Accolades
The 2026 UN Public Service Award marks the latest addition to a growing list of international honors earned by the system. Previously, verify.gov.kh secured the ASEAN Digital Award Gold Medal in Singapore in 2024. It also received the Outstanding Digital Service Award at the 20th World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) held in Switzerland.
According to the MPTC, these ongoing milestones highlight the successful joint efforts of the ministry and the Digital Government Committee. Together, they continue to build innovative digital solutions that modernize public services while showcasing Cambodia’s engineering talent on the global stage.
