PHNOM PENH — As Cambodia’s labor market shifts toward advanced industrialization and technological integration, the Royal Government is actively pushing forward with its comprehensive 10-year National Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Policy for 2026–2035.
Led by the Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training (MLVT), the initiative aims to systematically bolster human capital, accelerate economic diversification, and elevate national competitiveness.
Building a Future-Ready Workforce
During recent high-level inter-ministerial meetings chaired by Labour Minister Heng Sour, officials reviewed draft frameworks designed to transform technical education into a primary engine for sustainable national development.
- Strategic Alignment: The policy serves as a foundational pathway supporting the Pentagonal Strategy–Phase I, the Industrial Development Policy, and the National Policy on Employment and Labour.
- Long-Term Vision: The initiative aligns directly with Cambodia’s broader strategic roadmap to attain high-income status by 2050.
- Proven Momentum: The push builds upon substantial ground engagement, which saw nearly 150,000 young people enroll in TVET programs, with over 50,000 graduates securing immediate employment.
Deepening Private-Sector Collaboration
A cornerstone of the 2026–2035 policy framework is the emphasis on strengthening partnerships with private-sector employers. By aligning training curricula directly with industry requirements, the government aims to ensure that program graduates acquire market-relevant skills, secure decent employment, and drive higher household incomes across the Kingdom.
