ISTANBUL — Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet has called on commercial leaders and investors from Cambodia and Turkey to deepen bilateral economic cooperation and push total trade volume toward an ambitious $1 billion target.
The appeal was made during the Cambodia-Turkey Business Forum in Istanbul, co-hosted by the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce and Turkey’s Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEİK).
Building on Strong Growth Momentum
The push for expanded trade follows an encouraging upward trajectory. Bilateral commerce between the two nations reached approximately $400 million in 2025, reflecting a robust increase of more than 18 percent compared to roughly $338 million in 2024.
Addressing business executives and ministry officials, Prime Minister Hun Manet emphasized that both nations possess the institutional frameworks—such as the Joint Economic Commission and the Cambodia-Turkey Business Council—needed to eliminate trade barriers and accelerate private-sector investments.
Highlighting Key Growth Sectors
To bridge the gap toward the $1 billion milestone, the Cambodian premier encouraged Turkish investors to explore high-potential industries, including:
- Manufacturing and Agro-Processing: Adding value to agricultural exports and strengthening industrial supply chains.
- Infrastructure and Logistics: Enhancing supply chain networks and regional distribution.
- Renewable Energy and Digital Technology: Investing in sustainable power solutions and digital economy integration.
- Sustainable Tourism: Promoting cross-border hospitality ventures and cultural exchange.
Strategic Institutional Agreements
To solidify these commitments, the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce and DEİK signed a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during the forum. The agreement is designed to streamline direct business networking, improve market intelligence sharing, and foster joint venture developments between commercial enterprises in both countries.
