The One Village One Product (OVOP) movement is set to showcase the diverse and unique products of Koh Kong province in a two-day exhibition on June 17-18. This exciting event promises to be a feast for the senses, with 44 distinctive products on display for the very first time. Don’t miss this opportunity to explore the region’s rich agricultural bounty and immerse yourself in the vibrant local culture.
The exhibition aims to promote the wide range of produce cultivated by the farmers of Koh Kong province, while also celebrating the birthday of Queen Mother Norodom Munineath Sihanouk. According to On Sothearith, deputy governor of Koh Kong province, the event is designed to “promote and advertise the products of the farmers and enterprises across the province.”
Visitors can expect to discover a variety of famous agricultural products from Koh Kong, including rambutan, mangosteen, and durian. Sothearith explains that tourists “never overlook these products” when visiting the province, and the exhibition offers a unique opportunity for both locals and visitors to sample these delicious fruits.
“Embark on a captivating journey of taste and craftsmanship at the One Village One Product exhibition in Koh Kong. Join us on June 17-18 to celebrate our agricultural heritage, support local businesses, and experience the true spirit of Koh Kong – a place where every taste tells a story and every craft holds a piece of our vibrant culture.”
The provincial OVOP committee has arranged for 20 booths to display the fruits and other products, with guests welcome to try a wide range of free samples. Additional goods will also be available for purchase, making this a fantastic opportunity to support local producers and take home a taste of Koh Kong.
The event is expected to generate a wider market for Koh Kong’s products and attract tourists eager to experience the region’s delicious fruit. Cambodia Women Entrepreneurs Association president Keo Mom has expressed her support for the exhibition, citing the province’s large number of women-owned handicraft businesses and the potential for new markets to open up for lesser-known provincial products.
The exhibition will feature an array of products, including organic vegetables, free-range poultry, fruit, fish, dried shrimp, Koh Kong fish sauce, coastal honey, and sticky rice cakes. With such a diverse selection, there’s sure to be something for everyone to enjoy.
In April, Prime Minister Samdech Hun Sen marked the 6th National Day for the Promotion of Consumption of Cambodian Products 2023, urging government institutions and stakeholders to support the OVOP movement. The Koh Kong exhibition is an excellent opportunity for investors and visitors alike to witness the incredible potential of the region’s products and contribute to the promotion of local goods.
