Kuala Lumpur — Cambodia and the Russian Federation have reaffirmed their shared commitment to further strengthen and expand bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors, marking another step forward in their enduring partnership.
The pledge was made during a meeting between Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, and H.E. Alexei Overchuk, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, held on the sidelines of the 47th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
H.E. Overchuk emphasized that Cambodia remains a long-standing and trusted friend of Russia, highlighting decades of traditional relations between the two nations. He reaffirmed Russia’s readiness to deepen collaboration in priority sectors including trade, the economy, raw materials for textiles, vaccine production, agriculture, energy security, transport, and logistics.
In response, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet expressed appreciation for Russia’s continued support and acknowledged the historical depth of Cambodia–Russia relations. He noted that 2026 will mark the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, underscoring Cambodia’s willingness to work closely with Russia to elevate cooperation to new heights.
The Cambodian Premier welcomed Russia’s interest in expanding engagement across the mentioned sectors and proposed that Moscow send a delegation of experts to Cambodia to explore practical collaboration with relevant ministries, institutions, and private-sector partners to yield tangible outcomes.
