On April 11th, 2024, Cambodian Foreign Minister Sok Chenda Sophea welcomed the outgoing Malaysian Ambassador to Cambodia, Datuk Eldeen Husaini Mohd Hashim, for a goodbye meeting at the Ministry. The ambassador has been appointed to his new role as the Malaysian Ambassador to France, an announcement made by the Malaysian government.
During the farewell meeting, Minister Sok Chenda Sophea congratulated Ambassador Datuk Eldeen Husaini Mohd Hashim on his successful completion of his diplomatic tenure in Cambodia. He further acknowledged his newly assigned role as the Malaysian Ambassador to France and extended his best wishes for his future endeavors.
Over the years, Ambassador Husaini has been instrumental in fostering and strengthening bilateral relations between Cambodia and Malaysia. His start as an ambassador in 2019 marked the beginning of a significant and cooperative relationship between the two countries. His tremendous efforts and active involvement did not remain unnoticed as the Foreign Minister expressed his profound gratitude for the ambassador’s work during his tenure.
A significant note of appreciation was made towards Ambassador Husaini’s contribution to the successful official visit of Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet to Malaysia in February. This visit has marked a milestone in the diplomatic relations between these nations, a process to which the ambassador contributed considerably. The ambassador’s role has been integral in promoting cooperation in various sectors and facilitating frequent exchanges of high-level visits between Cambodia and Malaysia. In his final remarks, Minister Sok Chenda Sophea reassured Ambassador Husaini that he would extend his fullest support and cooperation to his successor. He affirmed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia will provide unstinted cooperation and backing for the incoming ambassador, thereby ensuring a smooth transition.
