Phnom Penh — Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet has extended his warmest congratulations to Takaichi Sanae following her historic election as Japan’s first female Prime Minister.
In a congratulatory letter addressed to Prime Minister Takaichi, Hun Manet wrote, “On behalf of the Royal Government and the people of Cambodia, I have the great pleasure to extend my warmest congratulations to Your Excellency on your historic election as the first female Prime Minister of Japan by the Japanese Diet on 21 October 2025.”
He highlighted the longstanding friendship and close cooperation between Cambodia and Japan, emphasizing the consistent strength of bilateral ties across multiple sectors. “Over the years, Cambodia and Japan have consistently maintained excellent relations, underpinned by frequent high-level exchanges and robust cooperation,” he said.
Recalling his visit to Japan in May 2025, Hun Manet noted that both nations reaffirmed their strong commitment to further deepening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership — a milestone achieved in 2023.
The Cambodian premier expressed his readiness to work closely with Prime Minister Takaichi to advance the shared vision for peace, stability, and prosperity in the region and beyond. “I look forward to the opportunity to meet with Your Excellency at the earliest convenience,” he concluded.
