The Government of Japan has committed US$192,509 to construct two primary schools in Pursat and Banteay Meanchey provinces. The initiative falls under the framework of the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects, known as KUSANONE.
The grant contracts were signed late last week in Phnom Penh by H.E. Ueno Atsushi, Ambassador of the Embassy of Japan in the Kingdom of Cambodia, and representatives of the recipient organizations.
According to a press release from the Japanese Embassy, the two projects include “The Project for the Construction of Kul Totoeung Primary School Building in Phnom Krovagn District, Pursat Province,” which will be implemented by the Lutheran Hope Cambodia Organisation. Additionally, “The Project for the Construction of Phoum Thmey Primary School Building in O’ Chrov District, Banteay Meanchey Province” will be carried out by the Banteay Meanchey Provincial Department of Education, Youth, and Sports.
H.E. Ambassador Ueno Atsushi expressed his optimism about the impact of the grant, stating that it would significantly improve the educational environment in Cambodia.
This collaboration underscores Japan’s continued support for Cambodia’s development through educational initiatives, fostering better opportunities for local communities.
