Prak Sokhonn, Cambodia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, met with Bendito Dos Santos Freitas, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, on Thursday to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation between the two nations.
Freitas arrived in Cambodia on a two-day official visit. During the meeting, the two ministers explored ways to deepen collaboration in key areas such as trade, tourism, education, economics, and people-to-people exchange. Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to working closely to advance mutual interests and enhance the longstanding friendship between Cambodia and Timor-Leste.
Following the talks, Minister Sokhonn hosted a dinner reception in honor of Minister Freitas and his delegation, underscoring the warm diplomatic ties between the two nations.
Though Cambodia and Timor-Leste share a relatively young diplomatic relationship, established in 2002 after Timor-Leste’s independence from Indonesia, the partnership has shown steady growth. Both countries continue to strengthen their engagement, particularly through cooperation in multilateral platforms such as the United Nations.
