PHNOM PENH, CAMBODIA — As Southeast Asia’s digital economy continues its rapid expansion, Cambodia is positioning itself as a central hub for regional innovation. La French Tech Phnom Penh has announced it will host a high-profile Tech Talk on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, targeting entrepreneurs, investors, and tech professionals focused on scalable digital solutions.
The event, titled “Apps for Emerging Markets: In the age of AI, how do you build from Cambodia?”, will take place from 6:00 to 8:30 PM at The Last Stage, Aquation Theater, Koh Pich, Phnom Penh. Admission is free.
Driving Tech Innovation Ahead of the 2026 Francophonie Summit
This Tech Talk arrives at a critical juncture for Cambodia. The initiative serves as a foundational ecosystem-building event ahead of the landmark 2026 Francophonie Summit, which Cambodia will officially host in November 2026.
Parallel initiatives, including the upcoming FrancoTech Forum & Village de la Francophonie, aim to solidify the country’s reputation as a premier destination for French-speaking tech innovation in Southeast Asia. The November summit will draw global delegations, offering unprecedented international exposure to Cambodia’s rapidly maturing startup ecosystem.
Product Showcase: Hard-Won Lessons from Cambodian Founders
Conducted entirely in English, the evening will feature a diverse lineup of builders spanning EdTech, FoodTech, TravelTech, PropTech, Cybersecurity, AI, and Software Development.
The first half of the event features a Product Showcase, where four local founders will share first-hand insights on developing applications tailored to the nuances of emerging markets:
- Hélène Quintin & Sébastien Lacan – Co-founders, THE MAP (Travel-Tech).
- Seng Rothsethamony – Co-founder & CEO, BAMNANG (EdTech / Prop-Tech).
- Laurine Chateau – Co-founder & CEO, UMAMI (Food-Tech).
Panel Discussion: Building for Scale in the Age of AI
Following the product showcases, a moderated panel of institutional leaders and tech executives will deliberate on the strategic realities, operational constraints, and growth opportunities within the local landscape.
The panel will be moderated by Sivhuang Lay, Managing Director of DICHI Academy, who brings personal experience building an EdTech platform for emerging markets. Panelists include:
- Vantharith Oum – Partnership Manager, Plug and Play Tech Center.
- Sokha Phanith – Director, Techo Startup Center.
- Thierry Ngon – CEO, RedBridge.
- Amrith Vatey C. Kim – Founder, NewWave.
- Kevin Sabbe – CEO, SKAI Technology.
The conversation will focus heavily on artificial intelligence. Far from being a future concept, AI has become an active, localized tool driving automation, product development, and customer experience optimization for Cambodian builders.
Why Cambodia? Cultivating Regional Champions
Cambodia’s tech ecosystem is currently experiencing an inflection point. A young, mobile-first demographic, paired with accelerating digital infrastructure, has created an ideal testing ground for scalable technology. Furthermore, public sector backing via entities like Khmer Enterprise and the Techo Startup Center has drastically lowered barriers to entry for early-stage companies.
The ultimate vision of La French Tech Phnom Penh and its ecosystem partners is to move past localized survival. The ecosystem is actively looking to build “Cambodian Champions”—startups engineered with local DNA but optimized to compete and win across broader Southeast Asian and global markets.
The event is organized by La French Tech Phnom Penh—an initiative backed by the French Ministry of the Economy, Finance and Industrial and Digital Sovereignty—with the support of key corporate partners including Solutions BI, Canadia Impact Fund, TechFlow, UMAMI, Pravinya, OCIC, and Aquation Theater.
