Siem Reap province is set to become the focal point for tourism in March as it plays host to the Eighth River Festival and the “Visit Siem Reap 2024” campaign. This announcement was made by Minister of Tourism Sok Soken during a Wednesday meeting with a delegation from the Junior Chamber of International Cambodia (JCI Cambodia), led by its 2024 National President, Ly Oudam. The meeting took place at the ministry’s headquarters in Phnom Penh.
The highlight of these events is expected to be the presence of Prime Minister Hun Manet, who is scheduled to inaugurate the festivities on March 16, according to the Minister. This series of events underscores a significant effort to promote tourism in the region.
The preparation and execution of these events are a collaborative effort, involving the Provincial Administration of Siem Reap, the Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia (UYFC), various relevant ministries and institutions, and the private sector. The theme for this year’s events, “River for Peace and Development,” reflects a commitment to leveraging natural and cultural resources for sustainable growth.
The Eighth River Festival, set to officially begin in mid-March under the auspices of Prime Minister Hun Manet, promises to be a vibrant celebration. Scheduled from March 15-17,2024 the festival lineup includes a diverse array of activities. Visitors can look forward to tourism and general product exhibitions, the Mekong Food Festival, and a variety of entertainment options. The agenda features live concerts, performances, music, and even fireworks, creating a festive atmosphere along the Siem Reap River and the bustling Pub Street.
These events are poised to draw attention to Siem Reap’s rich cultural heritage and natural beauty, further establishing it as a key destination for both domestic and international tourists.
