On April 25, 2024, Cambodia and the European Union marked a significant step in their ongoing partnership by co-chairing the 12th installment of the Cambodia-European Union Joint Committee. This critical gathering, serving as a biannual dialogue mechanism, was co-chaired by His Excellency MEAS Kim Heng, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia, and Mrs. Paola Pampaloni, Deputy Managing Director of the European External Action Service. The session saw the participation of representatives from crucial Cambodian ministries and institutions, alongside delegates from the European Union, representing various directorates general of the European Commission.

The meeting unfolded with discussions led by the co-chairs of the three sub-groups, focusing on vital areas of collaboration such as development cooperation, trade and investment, and broader themes including institution building, administrative and legal reforms, governance, and human rights.
